The Matrix
Who hasn't at least heard of this? One of the biggest sci-fi movies of our times. Now I'll just talk about the first one, which was the one that introduced all these innovative concepts and ideas, thus the best (for me).
The story really makes you wonder if we aren't actually living in the matrix right now. My favorite part is the beginning - how they keep the audience intrigued on what is happening until you discover the secret of the matrix. The effects for the action scenes are great; I mean, who doesn't remember the slow motion bullet time?
I'm trying not to spoil too much here just in case anybody hasn't watched it yet, so I'll just end my post here. It can appeal to a wide audience because of the many genres it approaches: there's action, sci-fi, cyberpunk, some romance, some kind of philosophy and even a few jokes now and then. If you haven't watched it please do. It's that kind of movie that can mean different things to different people.

One of my top movies of all time. Morpehus speaks the truth :D. You should check out the anime Ghost in the Shell if you haven't, it was a influence for the matrix.
ReplyDeleteI love the Matrix movies, but I didn't see the last one ...
ReplyDeletefor people who have not seen it.
ReplyDeleteI love the matrix! nice post! too badyou didnt recap the episode

ReplyDeleteYeah, listen to this guy. Ghost in the Shell is awesome.
Haha i who hasn't at least heard of this movie who has internet access.
ReplyDeleteLoved it at the time man.
ReplyDeleteI just saw this movie a few days ago. Very good movie although I heard it deteriorates in quality in second/third movie. It was inspired by Ghost in the Shell! Maybe that's why I liked it.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful movie! It was kind of like the inception of its time. It really got you to think. I remember when the newer matrix movies were coming out. Everyone was all excited. My favorite scene I think was in the second one during the car chase. I believe the song played was "Mona Lisa overdrive:
ReplyDeleteI always loved this movie. It's my all-time favorite.
ReplyDeletelove the movie
ReplyDeleteALL-TIME greatness
Watched this yesterday. Word!
ReplyDeleteI see all matrix to the cinema!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great story!
I think I need to watch it again. I was too young/not into it enough when I first watched it, I think.
ReplyDeleteanother vote for ghost in the shell, so awesome.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all 3 matrices, excellent films in my opinion. The second 2 were much harder to keep up with all of the philosophy and such being thrown around but enjoyable none-the-less. (:
I must be the only person in the world who hasn't yet seen this movie.
ReplyDeleteI've seen bits of it here and there, short clips and trailers, but not the full thing.
It's on my 'to do' list, along with about 6,000 other things..
I never understood this movie
ReplyDeleteThat's what made the 1st matrix great: not knowing anything about what the matrix was. And that's why the 2nd and 3rd movies are only ok in comparison.
ReplyDeletewe actually watched a clip of the matrix in my philosophy class, and my teacher tied it in to social perceptions. pretty smart stuff...

I just watched the trilogy again not too long ago.
ReplyDeletei remember the first one came out just when i was finishing junior high. i think i went to see it in theaters 3 times that summer. the first one really changed the way i thought about movies. soooooo good
ReplyDeleteghost in shell : stand alone complex
ReplyDeleteits the better ghost in the shell
Honestly, I thought it was a bit overrated. I love sci fi, but The Matrix just wasn't for me...
ReplyDeletenot a fan.......
ReplyDeleteAh yeah I miss the matrix
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely a good movie, but it was a little overrated.
ReplyDeleteI liked this movie when it was new, I can't say I'd watch it today, though.
ReplyDeleteI think the Animatrix was better than the three other movies.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this.
ReplyDeleteOmg MOvIEGASM!!!!!!
Love the first two Matrix movies..
ReplyDeletemany people disliked the second movie and disliked even more the third one. I am not a sci-fi films person, but i loved all of the triology of The Matrix. In a world "where why we are here" is The question, the movie gives this question a funny meaning.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Matrix movies. I even liked the third one.
ReplyDeleteThere is not some kind of philosophy, there is a lot of it :) And it is quite good!
ReplyDeleteLove the movie, all time classic!
awesome movie. the first one was groundbreaking.
ReplyDeleteAhh. The Matrix.
ReplyDeletea true classic, one of the greats

This is one of the best sci-fi movies I've ever seen. Just the whole concept of the matrix blew my mind.
ReplyDeleteGreat film - congrats on the 100 by the way
ReplyDeleteFollowing
Altough this movie has some flaws, its still a masterpiece.
ReplyDeletei remember the first time i saw this movie, it blown my mind
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this movie, but something happened in the third one that just.. lost it for me. It wasn't terrible my no means oh god no, but it wasn't as good as the other 2 unfortunately :(
ReplyDeleteI like how the animatrix is cross referenced throughout the movies. This makes it more than just a standalone project, which was the thought many had about it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there is no spoon.
I discovered this when I tried to stir my coffee this morning. :(
I had a movie marathon where I watched all three matrix movies last week. Sh*t was so cash!
ReplyDeletethe first one gives me massive amounts of nostalgia o_o
ReplyDeleteLoved all those movies, some of my favorites
