Starting small sometime in the mid 70's, these guys invented Punk and mastered their game in no time. Their famous short gigs with a lot of songs continue to inspire bands up to this date.
I like the fact that they got fed up with the current trend in rock music. At the time, Hard Rock artists played the guitar in the hardest way possible, while Prog Rockers wanted to write complex songs. The Ramones just said screw that. They kept it as simple as possible.

They said fuck that because they couldn't come up to par really, but its thanks to this that they made a pretty decent genre and inspire a LOT of some great artists, so I deeply respect them.

I get the urge to listen to these guys every once in awhile. They have some great songs. Think I'll be putting them into Pandora today. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Ramones deserved a lot more fame than they received at the time. Their influences continued to alter music for decades to come. I love the Ramones, mad respect.
